Pink Software, M-Web enter alliance

Johannesburg, 15 May 2001

Pink Software, publisher of leading South African SOHO/SME accounting software, TurboCASH, has entered into a business alliance with M-Web Business Solutions, which hosts the Genesis e-commerce shopping project.

In terms of the alliance, all Genesis sites will receive a free copy of the TurboCASH Accounting system, valued at R899. Over 100 of the combined systems have already been taken up.

Philip Copeman, MD of Pink Software, announced the deal as "the first step in the coming convergence of e-commerce, accounting, online banking and SARS reporting. We are pleased to be part of South Africa`s leading online shopping mall at a time when the Genesis `off the shelf` e-commerce-enabled Web site is being launched by M-Web."

Andy Stadler, M-Web Sales Manager, said: "The Genesis project aims to provide M-Web`s broad dial-up customer base, which comprises a significant number of home-run business, with an affordable e-commerce solution and a leading accounting package which will make the hard work easy - a complete, affordable, modern, business solution that sells 24-hours-a-day for the owner. A Genesis e-commerce site costing R1 095 per month, together with TurboCASH, will e-commerce-enable many traditional businesses and, perhaps more significantly, bring many new products to the Internet marketplace.

"The aim of the alliance is to introduce 100 000 SOHO/SME customers in South Africa to the e-commerce marketplace in an affordable way. By using TurboCASH and Genesis, a business benefits from the decreased cost-to-end-user of maturing technologies. This empowers all prospective merchants with an affordable Web business solution, for just R1 000 per month. Genesis is the shopkeeper and TurboCASH is the back-office accountant. Reporting on the business to the owner and other stakeholders such as the banks and SARS is easy."
