Pink to distribute dBase products

Johannesburg, 30 Aug 2001

dBASE today announced an exclusive agreement with Pink Software to distribute dBASE products in Southern Africa.

Lisa Demmert, Africa representative for dBASE, says: "dBASE has a long history with SA, having built up a dedicated following. We are pleased to have Pink Software, South Africa`s oldest software publisher, representing us."

Philip Copeman, managing director of Pink Software, comments: "We have always been dBASE fans. Out first product, Fasset, the Fixed Asset Manager, was developed in 1983 with dBASE II. dBASE fits right into our product line, sharing the same file structures as TurboCASH, our leading entry-level accounting package. This means that we can offer developers a transaction processing back-end to any systems that they wish to develop."

dBASE is the oldest PC database system still in business. It has developed through the years from a CPM- and DOS-based system right up to its modern forms dB2K, which is the ideal platform for developing database applications portable between Windows Networks and the Web. It has, however, retained much of its early file system and programming language.

Pink Software will offer its customers service and support for the full range of current dBASE Inc products including the dB2K Gold Subscription. Orders placed with the dBASE Online Store to be shipped to these countries will automatically be forwarded to dBASE South Africa for processing and support. Customers in these countries can order directly from Pink Software.
