Johannesburg, 28 Sep 2006

In the latest developments and in line with their initiatives on growing African market share, local distribution houses, Pinnacle Micro and Workgroup have joined forces in announcing a new division, Pinnacle Africa.

James Tavendale, GM of Pinnacle Africa says that with the successful consolidation of the Workgroup and Pinnacle branches in Namibia and Botswana finalised, he is glad to announce the successful formation of three new branches in Zambia, Angola and Mozambique. All five branches will begin trading under the new name of Pinnacle Africa on the 1st of October 2006.

"The Namibia, Botswana and Zambia branches, which have been trading successfully for a while now, will officially open their doors as Pinnacle Africa on the 1st October and, with the infrastructure and support offered by a mother company of Pinnacle Holdings (Ltd) standing, we anticipate no obstacles or bumps in the road at all," he says.

"As with the existing Namibia and Botswana branches, the Zambia branch will be fully furbished with selected items, matched to the African market, from the Proline range of offerings and more, further widening our offering to the sub-Saharan channel."

In addition to the Proline range, the branch will also host the LG range of laptops, Dicota laptop accessories, Trust and Logitech peripherals, D-Link wireless networking, HP CD/DVD media and Sun X64 box level products. These will compliment the comprehensive range of software products already carried by the branch.

Tavendale says that full attention will be given to growing market share in these regions with the introduction of new products and technologies as well as the continuation or creation of various incentives.

"We will be making the latest product readily available to the regions and focussing on staff and customer development as well as offering a reliable back office support structure," he says. "We believe this will highlight these branches as distributors of choice in the local markets."

Says Arnold Fourie, CEO of Pinnacle Technology Holdings: "As part of our focus on developing the relevant African regions, and becoming the first point of contact for resellers in these areas, we will be investing in local talent for all staffing requirements.

"These branches will incorporate both sales and technical support, offering an on the ground point of contact, furthermore Pinnacle Africa will be afforded better access to the market as our African staffers truly understand their local markets."

Fourie goes on to say that the general aim is to have Pinnacle Africa placed as the most, accessible, reliable, and reputable IT distributor in Africa within the next two years. "With this in mind, we believe this move is an important one that will grow investment in the region which will enable us to access, harness and grow previously untapped potential in the market."
