On Thursday 20 May 2009, Pinnacle Africa hosted a charity golf day at the Milnerton Golf Course, in Cape Town. The fundraising event was held in aid of the Vista Nova School.
The school has a current enrolment of 432 children with special needs, from as young as three years. Highly skilled teachers and therapists offer occupational, speech and physiotherapy to children who demonstrate development delays.
Due to recent financial pressure, the school was forced to terminate the contracts of three out of the nine therapists. This impacted negatively on the progress the children have made - due to less individual attention deriving from being short staffed, kids are not given as much attention as required. Pinnacle gladly confronted the challenge to raise funds to reinstate these therapists.
One-hundred-and-thirty-five golfers participated in the event and through the sponsorship of partners and vendors such as Intel, Microsoft, Dell, Fujitsu, Samsung, Logitech, Lexmark, Workgroup, Datanet, and Western Digital, Pinnacle raised a phenomenal R149 280.
In an emotional awards ceremony where the cheque was handed over to Vista Nova School, Jackie de la Porte displayed her gratitude to Pinnacle for the contribution made towards the development of these children with special needs.
