Pinnacle announces Symbol access point

Johannesburg, 24 Jan 2007

Local distribution house, Pinnacle Micro, has announced the local availability of Symbol's AP-5131, an access point that helps extend mobility and wireless security to small and medium businesses.

The new AP-5131 access point is a high-performance, single-box solution that integrates all services required to extend secure broadband access to mobile users.

So says Phillip Labuschagne, POS brand manager at Pinnacle Micro, who says the AP-5131 features the ability to securely connect users to remote private networks and is designed for deployment in branch offices or at telecommuters' sites for enterprise-class WLAN performance and secure connectivity of wired clients.

"The AP-5131 is available with two dual-band radios to support simultaneous high-bandwidth data and voice services or a combination of data, voice and full spectrum rogue access point detection services for wireless network integrity," he says.

Aesthetically designed for the carpeted office, yet built to withstand use in harsh industrial and outdoor environments, the AP-5131 access point has been engineered to reduce the cost of installation and on-site maintenance.

"The unit is fully integrated into Symbol's Mobility Services Platform (MSP) to ease deployment and provide comprehensive remote management for large, distributed installations," says Labuschagne.

"In addition, the AP-5131 is RoHS-compliant, fulfilling the European Union's requirements for reducing the user of hazardous materials in electronic equipment."
