Broad-based ICT supplier, Pinnacle Micro, has announced the immediate availability of Symbol's next-generation handheld laser scanner - the LS4208.
The bar code scanner offers customers new productivity features as it builds on Symbol's advanced data capture heritage, and is the latest offering in the LS4000 series of scanners.
Phillip Labuschagne, POS brand manager at Pinnacle Micro, says the LS4208 has been designed to increase efficiency in scan-intensive operations. He goes on to say potential end-users include retailers needing a durable, reliable and feature-rich scanner for point of sale and back-end operations; healthcare customers seeking a reliable bar code capture tool for bedside and patient management; and warehouse workers responsible for shipping and receiving products in an efficient manner.
"This scanner delivers intuitive, productivity-enhancing functionality to allow novice and advanced users to speed checkout lines and increase customer satisfaction rates at the retail point of sale, or quickly capture data in warehouse and medical facilities," he says.
"Specifically, its multi-line scan pattern allows customers to quickly and accurately scan one-dimensional bar codes including those that are damaged, small or poorly printed, to help improve operational efficiency and customer checkout."
He says the LS4208 also offers a 19-inch scanning range and improved motion tolerances to provide users with greater flexibility to rapidly and accurately capture data from a variety of items without pausing between scans.
The scanner reduces total cost of ownership by enabling remote, network-based device management to lower IT expenses and enable customisation in large, multi-scanner environments.
"For added flexibility, LS4208 users can easily switch between hands-free and handheld mode enabling store associates to efficiently scan hard-to-reach bar codes, such as those on large of bulky items that cannot be lifted to counter level," says Labuschagne.
Along with six-foot drop specifications that allow the scanner to keep on running even after drops, the scanner also offers single circuit-board construction and eliminates the failure points commonly found with interconnect ribbon cables.
