Broad-based ICT supplier, Pinnacle Micro, has signed a distribution agreement with Western Digital (WD), a data storage expert and one of the leaders in the hard drive industry.
Customers rely on WD hard drives in desktop and notebook computers, mobile and handheld devices, corporate networks and home entertainment applications to keep data secure and close at hand, and it is hoped that this agreement will extend Western Digital's product availability in sub-Saharan Africa.
Shane Hutchinson, brand manager at Pinnacle Micro, says that under the agreement, Pinnacle Micro will distribute WD's full line of digital storage management devices in southern Africa - these products include the WD Passport Pocket, WD Raptors and WD My Books, to name but a few.
Kathy Pylarinos from Western Digital says the decision to appoint a second distributor was based on selecting a partner that would assist in achieving short- and long-terms goals concerning market share growth in SA.
"As one of what we believe to be the fastest growing distributors in the country, Pinnacle offers not only a large geographical footprint in Africa but a wide range of products that are complementary to WD's offering," she says.
"Further extending our reach is the fact that Pinnacle has a range of focal areas - including government, academia and retail. The need for storage in these arenas is escalating rapidly and we anticipate this relationship with Pinnacle will assist us in breaking new ground."
Pylarinos says the appointment of Pinnacle Micro represents a major step forward in the distribution of Western Digital products and says the company's broad representation, extensive customer base and complementary product sets are a natural fit to drive the expansion of WD in southern Africa.
Pinnacle's Hutchinson says WD offers a broad selection of drives that meet a demand for large capacity and high performance storage. Its range of products, which vary from personal storage devices to enterprise-appropriate solutions, offer flexibility and quality for Pinnacle's customers.
"The WD distribution agreement complements our existing line of drive solutions," he says. "As a very customer-centric company, we want to offer our end-users access to the product range with competitive pricing. This agreement reinforces our commitment to provide solutions that represent value to our customers."
He goes on to say that Pinnacle is confident it will continue to offer fast access to WD stock with its countrywide offices and warehousing. "This means we'll be able to offer our channel partners a streamlined support operation with shorter turnaround times, in effect, offering them a one-stop WD solution," he concludes.
