Pinnacle Micro, the distribution arm of JSE-listed Pinnacle Technology Holdings, has acquired the Nelspruit and Bloemfontein branches of the now defunct Siltek Distribution Dynamics (SDD).
Arnold Fourie, MD of Pinnacle Micro, says he sees this as an opportunity for the company to branch out into areas where it has not been involved previously.
Pinnacle Micro`s new branch in Nelspruit has been operational since 1 November and the company says the Bloemfontein branch will come online early in January 2002.
Pinnacle Micro was part of the consortium involved in the Workgroup management buy-out from parent SDD earlier in the month.
The company has also secured the rights to three new agencies, namely Creative Labs, US Robotics and SMC Networking, and has been awarded the rights to distribute both the Minolta copier and printer ranges.
"Pinnacle Micro is taking full advantage of the gaps Siltek`s demise has left in the market. We are not only doing business as usual, but are willing and able to pick up much of the slack that`s been left in the market," says Fourie.
The acquisition now sees Pinnacle Micro with branches in most of the major cities in SA as well as having representation in Zimbabwe.
