Pinnacle Micro has capitalised on the demise of Siltek by acquiring two of SDD`s former branches, specifically the facilities in Nelspruit and Bloemfontein. Arnold Fourie, CEO of Pinnacle Technologies, sees this as an opportunity for the company to branch out into areas where it has not been involved previously. Pinnacle Micro`s new branch in Nelspruit has been operational since 1 November 2001, while the Bloemfontein branch will come on line early in January 2002.
Pinnacle Micro is now also a major shareholder in the resurrection of Workgroup, which was rescued through a management buy-out following Siltek`s liquidation. Fourie says: "This now makes us a major player in the software market."
The company is also looking to the future with a number of other new announcements. It has secured the rights to three new agencies, namely Creative Labs, US Robotics and SMC Networking. Pinnacle Micro is also the first distributor to have been awarded the rights to distribute both the Minolta copier and printer ranges.
Intel recently appointed Pinnacle Micro as an Intel Premium Service Provider in SA. Pinnacle Micro has also just been awarded the RT50 national government tender, over the next two years, for two ranges of Canon printers and a Canon digital camera.
Fourie concludes: "Pinnacle Micro is taking full advantage of the gaps Siltek`s demise has left in the market. We are not only doing business as usual, but are willing and able to pick up much of the slack that`s been left in the market."
