Pinnacle Micro, the distribution arm of JSE-listed Pinnacle Technology Holdings, has announced that Panasonic`s latest DVD writers are available immediately.
According to Dave Kruger, product manager for data storage at Pinnacle Micro, these latest additions to Panasonic`s DVD range were designed to meet the evolving needs of businesses and consumers.
The Panasonic LF-D321E DVD Burner, which was launched internationally in January and has been approved by the DVD Forum, features a DVD-RAM/R drive giving it the application flexibility to meet the needs of home movie authors, enterprise data storage requirements, and image archiving.
The DVD Burner is compatible with the full range of rewriteable DVD-RAM discs and with most of the current range of DVD players, recorders and DVD-ROM drives. It reads DVD-ROM, DVD-R, and DVD-video formats and all CD media and it burns DVD-video onto DVD-R discs.
According to Kruger, the key differentiating factor offered by the LF-D321E DVD Burner is its versatility for storage applications. "The re-usable DVD-RAM discs offer vast storage capacity, making it very attractive for use with data-intensive applications such as backup and database storage, or for applications that require editing, while the write-once feature which can accommodate up to 2.4 hours of MPEG2 video on each disc is ideal for archiving purposes."
Kruger adds: "The Re-usable DVD-RAM discs are very reliable with a built-in error correction facility that ensure absolute integrity; results that are enhanced with the use of Panasonic`s 4.7Gb/side and 9.4Gb/double-sided DVD-RAM media, while the write-once format offers superior durability in addition to this high reliability."
The DVD Burner carries a dealer list price of R5 300 and is available immediately.
