With the announcement of availability of two entry-level models from acclaimed camera manufacturer Canon, Pinnacle Micro has lowered the barrier of entry to digital photography, thereby creating significant revenue opportunities for its reseller base.
According to Cathy Dollenberg, product sales manager for printers and digital imaging at Pinnacle, the PowerShot A30 and PowerShot A40 offer the build quality that is expected from Canon, while delivering an array of features at an affordable price point. "These two new products are ideal for the family, bringing the instant results and imaging versatility that has made digital photography so popular within the budget of a far greater number of people," she says. Dollenberg says the PowerShot A30 and A40 deliver photo quality results and are compatible with Canon`s CP-100 and CP-10 direct printers.
Both the PowerShot A30 and A40 feature 3x optical zoom lenses covering the range 35-105mm (35mm equivalent) with a maximum aperture of f2.8. With a 1.2M pixel CCD sensor, the PowerShot A30 images are ideal for email and Internet use, while the PowerShot A40`s 2.0 megapixel CCD sensor is suitable for 10x15cm printouts.
Both these cameras are also capable of capturing short movie clips, which, along with photographs, can be displayed on a standard TV set. Connectivity to a PC or Mac is through USB, while Canon`s software suite comprising ZoomBrowser EX, PhotoStitch and PhotoRecord is included in the box. In addition, the PowerShot A40 is supplied with ArcSoft`s PhotoImpression and VideoImpression editing packages. Stock will be available in May.
