Plans for high performance computing centre

The Western Massachusetts city of Holyoke has been selected to host an ambitious, 'green' high performance computing centre, according to plans that will be disclosed this week by the state and a consortium of universities and technology companies, says Boston Globe.

The Holyoke high performance computing centre, projected to cost approximately $100 million, will be managed by a collaborative led by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the University of Massachusetts that will also include EMC, the storage giant based in Hopkinton, and Cisco Systems, which has a regional research centre in Boxborough.

At this stage, the have only agreed to participate in an intensive 120-day planning project. But backers say the centre will create an important resource for the state's hi-tech industry and academic institutions.

HP expo to highlight emerging tech

The HP Technology Forum and Expo, the largest event for IT professionals using HP technologies, will take place in Las Vegas, Nevada next week, reports Neowin.

Customers and partners from around the world gather for learning in key technology areas and an in-depth look at the newest IT solutions and emerging technologies.

The technology forum will present several hundred breakout sessions and hands on labs while the expo will feature more than 125 industry-leading vendors showcasing the latest products and services that support, integrate with or complement HP technologies and solutions.

Fujitsu brings new tech to India

Japan-based Fujitsu through its subsidiary, Fujitsu Technology Solutions, is all set to bring fast emerging technologies to India, according to CXOToday.

The company will bring a dynamic infrastructure portfolio to its customers, and is focusing on R&D activities and enterprise solutions business. The company sees India as strategic market for newer technologies.

The company's portfolio will include infrastructure-as-a-service, managed infrastructure, infrastructure solutions and products. The dynamic infrastructure solution framework is built around IA servers and storage products with technology features that include BladeFrame, FlexFrame, Eternus CS, and Resource Coordinator Virtual Engine.
