
PM skills sought after - survey
More than 30% of US design and environmental firm leaders and HR managers report that project management training is their firms' greatest training need, according to the latest 'By the Numbers' poll, a monthly survey featured in The Zweig HR Letter, reports Journal of Commerce.
ZweigWhite said 19% of respondents point to marketing and business development and 16% say leadership training is their firms' biggest training need.
Other trends revealed by the survey include firms increasing spending on leadership training and drawing on their resourcefulness to provide inexpensive training through existing staff and new media such as Webinars and other online training programmes.
UK council gets PM for greater efficiency
Corporate Project Solutions, a UK-based project implementation specialist, has been appointed by Leicestershire County Council (LCC) to roll out the Microsoft Enterprise Project Management 2007 toolset, states Sys-Con Media.
The Leicestershire Council IT department has a requirement to implement a tailored, structured system of processes and technology to facilitate pipeline management, timesheets for progress collection and resource management.
According to LCC, it needed a system capable of providing as much information and insight as possible regarding the council's resources to ensure optimum utilisation and efficiency throughout the organisation.
Sy leads PM conference
Innovative-e managing partner Dux Raymond Sy will lead a breakout session on SharePoint and project management success at the Best Practices Conference taking place from 24 to 26 August, says Newswire Today.
The three-day conference, held at the Hyatt Regency Reston in Washington DC, will feature more than 70 workshops divided into seven tracks to accommodate topics for technology professionals at every level.
