PM Tech`s Sun VPR appointment opens SME doors

Johannesburg, 17 Mar 2005

Proudly South African company PM Tech Holdings` appointment as a Sun Microsystems Volume Product Reseller (VPR) is now enabling the company to proactively promote Sun products that focus on the local SME marketplace.

There are currently 62 Sun VPRs countrywide, which were selected from more than 150 applications. These partners were chosen based on their ability to provide value-added services to the SME market, offering what Sun calls a superior lifecycle experience to companies.

"As a Sun VPR we can now take something different to the SME market by, for example, providing SME-specific products to companies that were not previously Sun houses, thus enabling us to tap in on a new marketplace," comments Michael Leeuwen, director of PM Tech Holdings.

"Sun is also a world-renowned brand, which strengthens our role in the local marketplace significantly."

Adds Jos Nickmans, channel and alliance manager for Sun sub Saharan Africa: "Our Sun VPR partners were selected based on their reputations in the marketplace, geographical spread, plus the ability to offer value-add services that are in line with our expectations of the SME market."

Through the VPR programme, resellers can offer existing and potential clients bundled solutions that feature offerings from Sun and partners such as Oracle, AMD, Symantec, Veritas and Microsoft.

These bundles are designed to specifically address SMEs` IT infrastructure needs. One of the key bundled offerings is Sun`s AMD Opteron-based range, which, for the first time, brings affordable 64-bit performance to the x86 market, with Linux and Microsoft Windows operating systems for greater customer choice.
