Polycom has added two high-definition (HD)-enabled desktop phones, the SoundPoint IP 335 and the CX300, to its line-up.

Polycom vice-president of marketing, Jim Kruger, says: “We are future-proofing all of our products by including Polycom HD across our product line, from the desktop to the conference room.”

According to Polycom, the SoundPoint IP 335 completes its portfolio of open SIP, standards-based desktop phones featuring Polycom HD Voice. It features support of the G.722 wideband codec, Acoustic Clarity Technology 2, and integrated power over Ethernet support, the company adds.

The CX300 solution is optimised for Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2, with full integration with Windows Vista and XP. Polycom says it features HD wideband audio and includes a two-line monochrome backlit display with plug-and-play operation to a USB port on the PC, as well as presence status monitoring to efficiently route calls.

Frost & Sullivan's senior consultant for unified communications (UC), Paul Waadevig, says the SoundPoint IP335 and CX300 give users the ability to have HD voice technology regardless of the UC platform being used.
