Postilion, a leading provider of software solutions for self-service banking and payments and a division of S1 Corporation (NASDAQ: SONE), today announced that it has appointed Enterprise Electronic Commerce (EEC) as an authorised reseller in Africa.
This non-exclusive partnership is complementary to Postilion's existing African sales strategy.
EEC will primarily focus on two target markets in Africa. First, it will provide Postilion solutions to multinational banks and retailers who are headquartered in South Africa and have operations across multiple African countries.
Within the African region, a demand has emerged from large banks and retailers for unified payment solutions from a single supplier that can support their operations in many countries. Some of these institutions wish to consolidate transactions on one central system in South Africa, while others prefer a distributed, localised architectural approach. By implementing Postilion systems, EEC can address both approaches. Second, EEC will target French-speaking countries in West Africa where there is currently no Postilion presence.
EEC will provide complete payment and transaction processing solutions that encompass a mixture of hardware, software, and services. EEC will work with its parent company, ATM Africa, in providing certain of these products, such as ATMs.
Solutions from EEC include switching hardware and software, POS devices, and cards. The use of open systems platforms and the capabilities of the Postilion product are viewed as key to its success in the African market. EEC will utilise state-of-the-art communications within its solutions and high security to protect confidential information and prevent fraud. EEC will also provide first and second level Postilion support to clients.
"EEC and ATM Africa have a strong understanding of the needs of the African region and the banking and retail IT marketplace. They have developed a reputation for providing a flexible approach when constructing solutions, together with professionalism and extensive business relationships," said Deon van Biljon, SVP and General Manager, Postilion Africa. "Concluding a reseller agreement with EEC is a natural extension to the previous close co-operation between ATM Africa and Postilion. We already have mutual clients."
"EEC recognises the strength of the Postilion product and its well-earned reputation as a clear market leader in the field of payment software solutions. EEC, with its best-of-breed approach to compiling solutions, views Postilion as an exceptionally good partner," commented Douglas Gillan, CEO of EEC. "Achieving Postilion reseller status completes our end-to-end solution offering and positions EEC as the solution provider of choice for multinational banks and retailers across Africa."
