In a reversal of the usual role of SA as the gateway to Africa, MGE UPS Systems, which says it is the number one supplier of power protection products on the continent, is turning its attention to the local market where it sees potential for growth.
"We are extremely positive about the South African market," says Alain Le Meur, MGE UPS Systems regional director for Europe and Africa. "MGE SA has posted 100% growth in their IT market in the past two years, but we hope to sustain this growth by increasing our contact with local companies."
Christelle Larkins, MGE SA IT channel manager, says the company has 40 years` experience, headquarters in Grenoble, France, 40 subsidiaries, and representatives in 150 countries. Larkins says MGE is able to provide high-end power protection for a variety of applications, including servers, networks, storage, telecom equipment and medical equipment.
"MGE`s SineWave active harmonic conditioner is the only product on the market that eliminates harmonics (interference) in environments such as television studios and sensitive industrial plants," says Le Meur.
MGE invests 4% of its profits in research and development, points out Le Meur. "This ensures products are always up to date and that the company is able to adapt to changing market needs."
Two new high-performance, density-optimised rack-mountable Pulsar Extreme C UPS models have been launched to meet the power needs of computer and telecom equipment bays, says Larkins.
"With networking devices continuously shrinking, and cabinet space costs increasing, the new MGE online 2.2 and 3.2kVA UPS models fill only two rack units and allow more equipment to be fitted into one cabinet, thereby decreasing cabinet costs."
