PowerDsine`s 6548 Power over Ethernet (PoE) 48 port midspan now provides South African users safe power over standard Ethernet cabling. The solution, distributed by Duxbury Networking, protects power to 48 terminals simultaneously without replacing the existing Ethernet switches.
The 6548 midspan eliminates the need for external AC/DC power cabling, offering a cost-effective and standards compliant (including IEEE 802.3af) solution for powering IP terminals over existing Ethernet infrastructure.
In addition, the midspan eliminates the need for one UPS per IP telephone; only one central UPS is therefore needed. It also automatically detects and protects legacy non-PoE devices.
The PowerDsine 6548 PoE midspan features an advanced power management algorithm which controls the output power per port in the event of limited available power.
"Indeed, PowerDsine 6548 provides a cost-effective way to distribute power, ensuring the uninterrupted operation of a network during electrical power failure," says Andy Robb, technology specialist at Duxbury Networking.
Lastly, the PoE midspan offers new advanced remote management capabilities with SNMPV3 MIB support. It also has a built-in Web server for remote monitoring over a LAN using a Web browser.
