Powerful business process integration solution from Compuware

Johannesburg, 18 Sep 2001

Business process automation and integration have received a boost following the announcement by e-business solutions provider Compuware of a tool set that transforms XML messages, providing customers with a flexible communications platform.

Jacques Wynbergen, Compuware SA district sales manager, says the two offerings - OptimalFlow and OptimalBridge - target the business process automation and business process integration markets.

"To be competitive in today`s Web-based economy, companies need to cut their overheads and increase their responsiveness to customer requirements. As a result, they must optimise the time and effort needed to complete the activities that make up their business processes.

"OptimalFlow and OptimalBridge, available now, are designed to enable our customers to do precisely that by automating, integrating and managing business processes running between different applications, systems, departments - and even across company boundaries," says Wynbergen.

OptimalFlow is a business process automation and business process modelling tool that co-ordinates the execution of business tasks and activities that make up the business process. It allows the adjustment and improvement of processes at runtime by providing end-user tools to manage, change, measure and perform impact analysis on the process configuration. This capability eliminates the need for modifications to the underlying applications.

OptimalBridge sends, receives and transforms XML messages and provides customers with an extremely flexible way to communicate with other companies - regardless of their B2B implementations.

The combination of OptimalBridge and OptimalFlow provides a powerful business process integration solution to increase the collaboration and effectiveness of supply chain relationships.

Compuware was able to bring the Optimal family of products to the market following the formation of a strategic partnership with US-based e.magination, a full service e-business agency specialising in web design, custom application development, network integration and support, Internet marketing, interactive advertising and consulting.

Its developer, Jay Grieves, says the intuitive nature of the process development environment and the fact that it only takes a few hours to get the product up and running makes it a very valuable tool to effectively complete a process-based e-business project.

The new products are designed to work with UNIFACE 8.2.01, OptimalJ (Compuware`s Java development environment) and OptimalView (Compuware`s corporate portal solution) but may be used just as effectively with application components built with third-party development environments such as Visual Basic.
