Poynting, a company which designs and manufactures antennas for the wireless LAN and cellular markets, has released the 5.8GHz HighPoynt antenna. This reconfigurable quad sector was recently designed by Poynting Antennas. The HighPoynt is a single enclosure containing four sector antennas and space for four radio boards. One of its unique features is that it can be configured into a single omni and later into two or four sectors as more capacity is required.
This quad sector antenna (with enclosure for electronics) operates in the 5700MHz to 5850MHz band. This antenna is ideal for any situation where the capacity to handle a large number of users is required and long distances need to be covered. The antenna allows for adjustable coverage in each quadrant due to the independent tilting of each sector.
The gain depends on the configuration you select:
* 16dBi for each 90 degree sectors antennas
* 14dBi for each 180 degree sector configured by combining two 90 degree sectors
* 10dBi when all four antennas are configured to form an omni
It is constructed of aluminium, steel and PVC plastic and has a UV treated PVC radome. The antennas are constructed from Rogers 4003 microwave board and stainless steel reflector plates. The product includes an integrated combiner that allows the four 90 degree sector antennas to be reconfigured to two 180 degree sectors or one omni-directional antenna.
The following are some of the features of the product:
* Elevation half power beamwidth of 10 degrees for all configurations.
* Adjustable independent tilt for each of the four sector antennas up to eight degrees downtilt.
* Four electronics bays of maximum footprint 150mm x 170mm. Electronics is fitted by means of the provided self-adhesive mounting pillars that allow for a range of electronics options.
* A universal cable port at the base of the unit allows multiple variable gauge cables to pass into the unit to service the electronics power and data requirements and provides an IP65 protection.
* High strength stainless steel mounting bracket for either wall- or mast-mounting up to 90mm in diameter.
* Safety screws secure radome to unit to provide tamper-proof protection.
