Issues surrounding project and portfolio management (PPM) have caused confusion in the industry, says PM Sights director Paul Viviers, citing five years of research into the matter.
PM Sights has therefore developed a PPM forum Web site, which will go live this week, in an attempt to lend clarity to the subject.
"Research conducted by our company revealed 96% of organisations believe that project management is valuable to their organisation, but continue to battle with inconsistent approaches to project management, resource allocation and projects that run over budget.
"Project managers are grappling with understanding the difference between project management and project portfolio management or what strategies and methodologies to implement in their projects," adds Viviers.
Experienced project managers will facilitate the forum. The site will feature a PPM knowledge bank that houses a library, newsletters, research reports, presentations, white papers, measurement tools and a database of project management best practises and blogs, he says.
The site will also contain surveys, book series and forums on vital topics that will educate project managers, Viviers concludes.
