PQ Africa`s Business Intelligence division will host the first Verity seminar series in SA following its appointment as a Verity International Partner earlier this year. The seminar, a series of business briefs aimed at corporate professionals and decision-makers, will be held in Cape Town on Monday the 10th and Tuesday the 11th of September, and in Johannesburg on Wednesday, 12 September.
With over a decade`s experience in powering business-critical applications, Verity is the acknowledged leader in scalable information retrieval, and was one of the first companies to deliver full-text search solutions for intranet, e-commerce and business portals.
"Verity`s solutions incorporate the technology, partners and services for building a complete business portal, automating access, personalisation, searching and navigating features for the enterprise," says PQBI managing executive Gavin Lipshitz.
"They deliver comprehensive and unified access to enterprise and Internet data, from Web browsers or handheld devices, regardless of location, format or structure. What makes them unique is the ability to personalise the information experience for each user in an organisation, automatically generating the views, windows and information tickers based on a user`s preferences or location."
The PQBI seminars will address the following key requirements for business portals in the South African e-business context:
* Personalisation - allows users to access the information, applications and categories that are most relevant to them.
* Unified access - makes contact from all information sources searchable.
* Intelligent classification - accurately organises information around your business needs.
* Scalability - as the number of users, amount of information, or network complexity increases, the Verity K2 Architecture scales linearly with zero performance degradation.
* Intelligent merchandising - e-commerce portals can influence purchasing decisions through sophisticated online merchandising techniques that increase sales and recognises more revenue.
* Profitable site stickiness - keep customers on your site longer with a core full-text search engine in place of a simple structured database system.
Entrance is free but seats are limited to 20 per session, so advance booking is essential. For more information and to RSVP, call Mandy dos Santos on (021) 550-3000 or e-mail mandyds@pqafrica.co.za. You can also visit PQBI online at www.pqbi.co.za to make an online booking.
