PQ Business Intelligence, a Q Data Consulting division which is part of the PQ Africa group, is promoting Cognos`s acclaimed BI University (BIU) with the "Introduction to BI University" training course at its Cape Town and Johannesburg training centers.
PQBI senior advisory consultant Yolanda Komen says the half-day course was designed as an introduction to Cognos`s "24 ways" to "drive down cost, drive up productivity and drive the development of customer- and profit-centric business models."
"The Introduction to BIU course is a scaled-down version of the two-day BIU, and follows the same principles of teaching students how to think multi-dimensionally in their unique business environments," says Komen.
"Students are split into role-playing groups that have to solve the business problems of a fictitious company over one financial quarter (the two-day BIU course covers the full financial year) by considering multiple factors that affect the company`s performance. In effect they have to find the "information sweet spots" that will turn the company`s present problems around for immediate and measurable bottom line results."
The Introduction to BIU preview is aimed at IT professionals and business executives interested in implementing business intelligence tools and skills in their organisations through:
Experiencing the bottom line impact that Cognos business intelligence software can help them achieve;
Developing a blueprint that aligns information across the organisation so decisions can be co-ordinated for optimal results;
Understanding how people throughout an enterprise can employ BI to make strategic decisions;
Gaining the insight needed to develop a full BI implementation plan; and
Learning how to achieve maximum ROI from building a data warehouse and investing in BI.
"In a co-ordinated organisation, managers work together towards a common business goal that helps them make better decisions today for the company`s long-term prospects," says Komen. "It represents the next step in the ERP lifecycle: moving from processes to decision."
Introduction to BIU will be held in Cape Town on May 24 and August 30 and in Johannesburg on July 20 and October 12. For bookings and information contact Kerry White at kerryw@pqafrica.co.za, or call (021) 550-3000.
