PQ Mainstream, the mid-market ERP and financial systems company in the PQ Africa group, has announced its partnership support programme (PSP), aimed at helping clients without an IT department.
Similar to the much vaunted application service provider programme (ASP) model, PSP differs in the fact that the client retains ownership of the system, says Vanessa Nutter, sales and marketing director at PQ Mainstream.
"The PSP is aimed at clients who value the importance of IT to the business, but don`t want to carry the burden of the IT function," says Nutter. "No matter what size company you are, there are certain issues which cannot be avoided if your systems are to run smoothly. The PSP model is designed to address these."
She says that database management and tuning, regular backups, training and retaining skilled people, and the daily management of the system are crucial issues that an organisation can not avoid.
"Such a range of functions would typically require the attentions of three people," says Nutter. "We supply one of our own consultants and charge the client for the services of just that one person. Then we work with our various partners to ensure the full range of outsourced IT functions is supplied and that the client has systems running at their peak."
Nutter says the PSP model has been well accepted by PQ Mainstream`s client base, which is growing rapidly since the launch late last year of StreamLine, the mid-market ERP suite from Geac.
