Asset performance management specialist PRAGMA Holdings will host its 10th annual conference from 12 to 14 May at the Cape Town Convention Centre.
The conference will have a "Proud to be South African" theme, celebrating 10 years of asset management excellence in a country that has enjoyed a decade of freedom and democracy.
The conference, which focuses on physical asset management as key to driving a strong economy through the implementation of structured integrated solutions for improving and maximising asset performance, targets companies from the manufacturing, mining, facilities, utilities, telecommunications and transport sectors.
"The conference aims to educate large asset owners about world-class asset management practices. For strategic state assets such as electricity, rail and water systems, the benefits from asset performance improvement flow directly to the consumer. Within the private sector it has the effect of improving national productivity, which is an important real way to advance SA`s economy," says Adriaan Scheeres, CEO of PRAGMA Holdings.
More than 150 local and international delegates are expected to attend the conference, spanning a wide scope of industries including mining, manufacturing, facilities, utilities and transport.
The conference will provide a forum for specialists in a range of fields. Dr Kevin Wall from the CSIR will speak on issues, constraints and opportunities in asset performance in the municipal sector.
Jelle Gernaat from The Netherlands will speak on availability modelling through the application of modern decision support systems, highlighting the use of such systems in the Dutch dyke system to predict asset failure.
Other topics include the importance of organisational synergy during asset management interventions, the proactive integration of risk management into business operations, and how lean manufacturing influences asset management strategy.
PRAGMA clients sharing their successes at the conference will include PPC, KWV, BP and City of Cape Town Water Services.
"With offices in Cape Town, Johannesburg, Durban and Port Elizabeth, an international office in Europe and several value-added resellers in Australia and Canada, PRAGMA is a proud South African success story that shows that South African companies can develop technology products that can compete on the world stage," says Scheeres. "A well structured, carefully integrated asset performance management strategy plays a crucial role in the success of operations looking to compete locally or internationally."
