Gauteng Premier David Makhura, together with members of the Executive Council, will on Thursday, 10 December 2015, engage innovation incubates and the business community at The Innovation Hub.
The aim of the event is to facilitate engagement between government, technology companies based at the science park as well as the business community on the role of innovation in business.
The event also forms part of the province's vision to realise the transformation, modernisation and reindustrialisation of Gauteng. This initiative falls closely within the transformation pillar of the vision and aims "to work with research institutions to vigorously promote innovation within the provincial economy and fast-track the development of new industries that will usher Gauteng into an innovation-driven, knowledge-based, smart and green economy".
In addition, the Innovation Hub will be sharing the overall strategy to support business with innovation.
Premier's visit follows soon after a successful e-Government and ICT Summit that took place in November. In his closing remarks during the summit, Makhura emphasised that government would not get far with transformation if it was not ready for inclusivity.
The Innovation Hub, Africa's first accredited science and Technology Park, is a subsidiary of the Gauteng Growth and Development Agency (GGDA), which is an agency of the Gauteng Department of Economic Development (DED).
