PreWorX purses $14bn world market with new marketing, channel divisions

Johannesburg, 10 Jul 2001

PreWorX, formerly known as Diamond Networking Technologies, has formed twonew divisions to manage the marketing, distribution and support of its products.

The Pretoria-based developer of pre-boot PC management solutions has established PreWorX Consulting to market its offerings to corporate customers in South Africa and the rest of the world, and to help it capture a slice of the $14 billion world market.

PreWorX Distribution, the second new division, will focus on creating a local and international channel for PreWorX products, and provide training, installation and support services for systems integrators. PreWorX Consulting director Grant Langton says: "As a technology research and development firm, PreWorX does not have the infrastructure and skills in place to market its products to a broad customer base and to provide services to end-users and the channel.

"It has recognised that these needs would be best fulfilled through the creation of two market-facing business units led by executives with experience in building reseller channels and selling technology into corporate customers. This will allow PreWorX to retain its tight focus on developing e-support solutions."

Hannes Rheeder, a director of PreWorX Distribution, adds that his division has geared itself up to provide the channel with second-tier support by recruiting three top-level technicians. PreWorX Distribution will also provide sales and technical training to channel partners. "We`re busy recruiting partners which meet a stringent set of criteria in terms of their depth of the sales and technical skills, as well as the infrastructure they have available for product demos and end-user training," says Rheeder.

PreWorX Distribution has already signed on a number of channel partners in South Africa, including the likes of C-Tech, Tecor, Crux Technologies and Connectivity Dynamics. The division has also established ties with systems integrators in Australia, the UK and Europe.

The creation of the new divisions follows the launch in March of PreWorX`s new automated e-support solution, Virtual Service Provider (VSP). VSP provides customers with a Web-based console to access and manage the resources of remote PC before they have booted. This allows support technicians to diagnose problems and configure and install or repair data on remote systems without an operating system being present. They can also diagnose and repair hardware and software remotely over the network or Internet using third-party tools.

Since the launch of VSP, PreWorX has signed on a raft of new customers, including the Department of Labour, Pretoria Technicon and Unibank.PreWorX Consulting director Brian Wood says the two new divisions will provide PreWorX with a platform to capture a larger slice of the global e-support market.

He points out that the South African company is one of only two in the world that develops pre-boot PC management solutions, and is thus strongly placed to become a significant player in the global systems management market.
