CIOs cite PM skills as priority
A new survey by Robert Half Technology says a quarter of CIOs report a huge need for project management skills, reports IT Business.
"Project managers were in huge demand seven or eight years ago, but as the market had a downward turn, these employees were the first ones to go," says Geoff Thompson, division director at Robert Half.
He says when organisations hire new talent, project management is a top priority. Equally important to CIOs was technical abilities, the study found. These include IT security, audit, and Internet skills.
Primavera integrates with SAP
Primavera Systems announced the immediate availability of Primavera Inspire, a solution that enables the easy exchange of information between Primavera and SAP, according to ThomasNet.
By tightly integrating data in their SAP ERP Systems with Primavera's project and resource management solutions, SAP users will have visibility into key project milestones and deadlines.
Primavera Inspire helps project participants working in SAP or Primavera to make important decisions, as project data is aligned no matter which system they use.
Peach releases PM methodology
Peach, a compliance, risk and change management company in the UK, has released a new project management methodology, says Bobsguide.
Called Project/Programme Management Structure (PrMS), it incorporates a project initiation and implementation document, together with cost, time and resource analysis and reporting, which involves quality assurance and earned or added value parameters and figures.
PrMS comes in 13 modular 'bricks', which may be likened to standard Lego-like modular elements, of which any may be applied to help companies as appropriate. There is no special software involved, as the methodology is based on Microsoft Office applications.
