Business Edge Systems` USA partner, SPL WorldGroup, a leading provider of information technology consulting and enterprise solutions, is developing a centralised loans and receivables application for Princeton University. The system is being built as a logical three-tiered application using Java and SPL WorldGroup`s frameworks. It will utilise an Oracle database running on a UNIX server and Microsoft NT workstations.
Princeton maintains billings and collections for a wide variety of receivables such as student accounts, student and parent loans, scholarships and fellowships, mortgages, rents and others. The system will facilitate immediate access to all receivable accounts, thus providing single service call assistance.
AWe chose SPL WorldGroup to develop this application because of their experience in developing large-scale customer service applications on time, said Ray Clark, treasurer of Princeton University. ASPL WorldGroup uses its LEVEREDGE8 component-based methodology to ensure a truly object-based system that offers maximum flexibility and maintainability. Hopefully, this will allow us to achieve best of breed functionality.
AThe new system underscores Princeton`s commitment to effectively manage its business affairs, and we are pleased to support their efforts in this area, stated Moshe Mor, president and CEO of SPL WorldGroup.
The first phase of the project is progressing smoothly and is on schedule for delivery during the American summer. SPL WorlGroup is a member of the IBM VisualAge Object Connection Program and utilises IBM`s VisualAge for Java product in the development of this system.
According to Business Edge`s Rob Stansell, this project represents one of the largest Java applications of its type in the world. AOur partnership with SPL WorldGroup will give us access to vital skills and experience in this area of systems development, commented Stansell.
Some key advantages to the new system include: full access to information, the system supports an account structure that can accommodate any number of loans (of the same type) within a single account; extensive audit and control functions, provides balancing, tracking and reporting of all activities; document production, offers an extensive on-line and batch letter writing and promissory note production capabilities; remittances, the ability to produce coupons on demand or automatically; and tight system integration, taking advantage of Princeton`s current centralised database permitting data sharing within different receivable departments.
