Printacom commits to helping worthy causes

Johannesburg, 23 May 2006

Printacom, the brand representative of Oki Printing Solutions in South Africa, has made several donations of printers and a year`s worth of consumables and paper to worthy causes across the country.

"This announcement shows Printacom`s continued commitment to social development in the local market," says Neil Rom, managing director of Printacom. "So far this year, we have donated a printer and consumables to Hospice and the Centre for Palliative Learning, Midrand SPCA as well as to People for Wildlife, the latter being made through the involvement of one of our distributors, PDC.

"With the resources we have at our disposal, we believe this is one small way we can help out those in need and contribute towards the transformation of our country`s social environment," Rom says.

In addition to printer, consumables and paper donations, Printacom has recently made cash donations to the Sandton SPCA and has also sponsored the production of course material for the training conducted by Penny Steyn for the Midrand and Rosebank Police Station members. Printacom will also provide the workbooks for all customer service workshops presented by Steyn at other police stations.

Rom says that all round, the donations of printers, cash and booklet printing services made by Printacom are being put to good use.

"At Hospice and the Centre for Palliative Learning, the donated laser printer has assisted in the production of professional manuals, which are distributed to learners," he says. "People for Wildlife, on the other hand, have used their donated printer for the production of membership communications and in-house newsletters," Rom adds.

When it comes to the South African Police, Steyn says each of her course attendees requires a workbook to get the most out of the skills taught. So far Steyn has concluded nine training sessions for the Midrand Police with each session averaging between 10 and 15 attendees.

Steyn says: "I am extremely indebted to Printacom for creating the workbooks for the police. Previously they were photocopied by the police stations presenting a far from professional image, whereas with Printacom`s assistance, the workshops have been converted into a slick presentation making these books worth keeping."

"We have a strong commitment towards helping wherever possible," adds Rom. "As a South African corporate citizen, Printacom believes it has a duty to the market, country and environment in which it operates.

"There are numerous organisations in need of assistance. With these contributions, we are making a difference in the lives of those in need. For us, being able to make even a small difference is reward enough," he concludes.
