Printacom has ensured continuity in the channel for the TallyGenicom brand by reappointing some of the country's leading distributors, which carried the product line before the collapse of the US-based vendor.
The distributors – Tarsus Technologies, A.C.T. and Kolok – will continue selling the TallyGenicom line, which covers matrix and laser printers, after Printacom secured the southern Africa rights from Printronix, which recently rescued the TallyGenicom brand from bankruptcy.
"We are excited about continuing the longstanding relationships that exist between these distributors and the TallyGenicom name," says Libby Ballardin, Printacom's specialised printing product division manager.
Printacom itself has rock solid relationships with these distributors as they also carry the company's other major brands – being OKI and Printronix.
Ballardin says TallyGenicom products will now enjoy the backing of a large and yet nimble representative such as Printacom to support these distributors in their efforts to stabilise and grow the market.
"The TallyGenicom installed base is actually quite big as the products have been available in the market for a long time," Ballardin added. "The downside is that the name changes from the original Mannesmann Tally through to simply Tally and then TallyGenicom have caused confusion in the market," he stated.
"We are aiming for a seamless transition representing TallyGenicom in the region, and have already placed orders for products and spares to ensure that the market experiences as little disruption as possible.
"We believe this will be achieved by sticking with the distributors who know the products and the market," concludes Ballardin.
