Prisma announces Cardiff`s development of the XML-based eForm Management System

By QuartzIT
Johannesburg, 15 Mar 2001

Prisma Solutions, the sole distributor of Cardiff TELEform in Africa, announced Cardiff`s LiquidForms eForm Management System.

Cardiff`s development came about after recent eGovernment initiatives, including the Government Paper Elimination Act and the Electronic in Global and National Commerce Act, have set the platform for an accelerated interest in eForms.

Prisma says that Cardiff`s LiquidForms will allow organisations to route, approve, submit and sign online forms. It will therefore provide organisations with the tools to enable a paperless environment through the utilisation of standard web clients.

LiquidForms can integrate with Adobe Acrobat 5.0 and other standard Web clients. Hugo Leuner, MD, Prisma Solutions believes that LiquidForms will deliver a paperless form solution that will not require the additional use of plug-ins or Java filler applets. This eForm Management System will have the added ability of publishing forms into an online system using Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) and HTML standards. Leuner says that LiquidForm users will be able to access their organisation`s centralised eForm repository through standard Web browsers, and can use the system to route, approve and sign online forms. This will enable users to process data from completed forms directly into ERP, HR, database and other back office applications.

LiquidForms, along with Acrobat 5.0, are claimed to have the capability to resolve the technological limitations that have slowed the implementation of historical approaches to paperless forms. Prisma believes that the grouping of Acrobat 5.0 and LiquidForms is a convincing solution for eBusiness and eGovernment organisations.

LiquidFroms processing ability will offer an important benefit to business and government users. Recent US studies have shown that similar products are capable of saving organisations up to $150 for every paper form used within the organisation.

In addition there has been significant industry support for the standards-based approach that Cardiff and Adobe have taken with their eForm Alliance. Among the approving organisations are Sun Microsystems, a leader in open systems, and the U.S. Internal Revenue Service.

Leuner believes that LiquidForms represents a technology shift in the eForm automation segment and that it could hold great potential for the South African environment.

LiquidForms use universally accepted Web clients for form fill and routing: Microsoft Internet Explorer, Netscape Navigator and Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Acrobat Reader. The product will be available as of May 2001, and will be delivered in two configurations: LiquidForms Workgroup (PC/Sun Solaris), which supports 100 maximum login accounts; and LiquidForms Enterprise (PC/Sun Solaris), a more scalable system.
