Process modelling delivers on SOA`s agility

Perhaps the most significant advance of business process management (BPM) over its workflow and enterprise application integration ancestors is the integration of modelling with executable process design.

According to Intelligent Enterprise, once strictly a standalone technology, process modelling has become a standard feature of BPM suites, which then go on to execute and monitor the modelled processes.

By including a modelling tool in the suite, BPM suite vendors give process owners on the business side a way to assert direct influence over the IT implementation.

Ultimus releases iBAM suite

Ultimus, a provider of BPM and workflow software and solutions, has released the Ultimus iBAM suite.

The interactive business activity monitoring (BAM) suite allows business owners and managers to visually monitor key performance indicators from their desktops and interactively control the process for roundtrip optimisation.

Ultimus provides a complete suite of interactive BAM controls.

LANDesk debuts process management tools

Systems and management software vendor LANDesk continued its push into BPM software this week, with the launch of an updated version of its newly acquired LANDesk Process Manager suite, ITWeek reports.

The technology, which was gained through its purchase of BPM and workflow provider NewRoad Software earlier this year, has been updated to feature tighter integration with LANDesk`s systems and security management products as well as other third-party applications, the company said.

Kevin Auger, of LANDesk, said Process Manager 2.0 is shipping now and features graphical tools for modelling processes and an enterprise workflow engine capable of and managing not only IT processes, such as patch updates and change management, but also business workflows, such as compliance or HR processes.
