Process Suite makes sense of business tasks

Staffware yesterday released Process Suite, the company`s latest version of its business process management (BPM) . The latest release has been 18 months in development and represents a substantial reworking of the previous release, Staffware `97.

John O`Connell, chairman and CEO of UK-based Staffware, said research shows that existing CRM and ERP applications are widely regarded as not delivering the benefits managers expect. The reason, he said, is that the aspect of workflow and business process had not been built into these applications.

What the industry requires, said O`Connell, is a "process-centric" approach to business tools and Process Suite was built with these goals in mind.

"Extending the functionality of the Staffware 2000 and Staffware CRM products, the Process Suite provides a complete set of tools to transform and streamline an enterprise`s internal processes and tasks," said Mark Ehmke, MD of Staffware SA.

At the heart of the new suite is the iProcess engine that is capable of processing straight-through transactions as well as large-scale BPM requirements.

John Pyke, Staffware CTO, said the new iProcess engine is capable of more than 500 000 transactional steps an hour, in comparison to the 150 000 steps achieved using the previous engine.

Pyke said the new processing engine also supports cluster implementations, offering customers both scale-out and scale-up ability.

He added that Process Suite users will benefit from zero latency transactions, unlike previous batch-based transactions, as well as standard application integration protocols, making it unnecessary for corporations to employ separate middleware tools.

Process Suite includes new process monitoring capabilities, in addition to process administration, relationship management tools, process integrator software and a number of new end-user applications suitable for financial institutions.
