ProClarity launches global beta programme in support of SQL Server 2005

Johannesburg, 15 Nov 2005

ProClarity has launched a public beta version of 6.1, the analytics platform that expands on Microsoft Business Intelligence Platform.

Development continues in conjunction with the advancements of Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Community Technology Previews in order to expand on the enhanced business intelligence functionality of the Microsoft platform.

"ProClarity 6.1 has been designed to extend the entire Microsoft BI platform with best-in-class analytics for a cost-effective, end-to-end BI solution," says Keith Jones, MD of Harvey Jones Systems, the local ProClarity distributor. "SQL Server 2005 will further solidify Microsoft`s position as the premier BI vendor."

ProClarity provides a simple and adaptable interface that allows organisations to harness the complex BI features available in SQL Server 2005. New features in ProClarity`s analytics platform include:
* Advanced support of the Unified Dimensional Model (UDM);
* Redesigned dashboard; and
* New charting engine.

ProClarity 6.1 beta supports SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services display folders for both attribute hierarchies and measures. The software also exposes relationships between user-defined hierarchies, attribute hierarchies and dimensions. In this beta release ProClarity has implemented context filters, which highlight hierarchies that apply to a particular measure group.

The ProClarity Dashboard has been rewritten to better support Web and portal deployments through URL addressability. With this beta release, end-users have greater flexibility creating dashboards with personalised content and IT can easily customise the user interface in order to meet diverse business requirements.

The charting engine has been replaced to optimise Web-deployed analytics and provide enhanced functionality of business charts in thin analytic clients, dashboards and portals.

As a part of the SQL Server 2005 release, ProClarity is participating in Microsoft`s Project REAL to offer migration best practices through real world examples. ProClarity is also offering the following resources for organisations working with Microsoft business intelligence solutions:
* Practical Tips for a Seamless Migration to SQL Server 2005 (On-Demand Webcast and white paper);
* Blending Reporting and Analytics in SQL Server 2005 (white paper);
* Key Business Problems Solved with Analysis Services 2005 (white paper); and
* Introduction to the Unified Dimensional Model (Webcast)

"The new features in ProClarity 6.1 and its integration with SQL Server 2005 will allow us to take full advantage of the Microsoft BI platform," says Eric Lofstrom, business intelligence manager for Quicken Loans and a ProClarity beta participant. "We have already seen great success with our ProClarity and Microsoft solution, and this new technology will allow us to make even greater strides in our business intelligence practices."
