ProClarity sets new standard in BI with Analytics Platform 6

Johannesburg, 09 Nov 2004

ProClarity Corporation, a provider of analytic application technology, has released version 6 of the ProClarity Analytics Platform, which marks a significant increase in the speed at which large organisations can build analytic applications and provide business knowledge to employees.

ProClarity 6 is an enterprise-class analytic platform designed to enhance IT productivity and performance, while providing companies with a comprehensive understanding of corporate operations and the tools for proactive business management.

Scott Stein, COO for Thorogood Associates, a business intelligence IT consultancy based in the UK, says: "ProClarity 6 enables our customers to comparatively analyse historical and current business information. This in turn provides them with complete visibility of their operations and allows them to make collaborative, fact-based decisions that ultimately result in business success."

One of the most significant enhancements to the ProClarity 6 product family is the addition of real-time analytic capabilities provided by the ProClarity Live Server, a middle-tier server that provides live and persistent connections to many data sources.

ProClarity Live Server maintains data consistency and security by providing a centralised point of control for all information. By enabling read and write capabilities to data sources in the Excel environment, ProClarity Live Server promotes effective team planning and enables rapid updates of critical operating systems.

Available in November, ProClarity 6 includes the following new products and enhancements:

* Addition of ProClarity Live Server provides real-time analytic capabilities to enable faster decision-making and more effective planning.

* Connection to multiple data sources without having to move or physically integrate the data makes it significantly faster to build user-friendly analytic applications.

* Use of Microsoft Excel as the primary interface enables familiar spreadsheet functions to increase productivity and foster user adoption.

* Addition of new actionable key performance indicators (KPIs) that include attributes such as goal, status and trend make rich analysis of historical data easier with ProClarity Analytics Server.

* New graphical indicators, including stoplights, gauges and arrows, provide "at-a-glance" monitoring of KPIs and business metrics from all ProClarity clients.

* New ProClarity Performance Map visualisation, based on heat mapping technology, helps users synthesise information by marrying elements of size, space, and colour to provide a cohesive map of business performance.

* Addition of new features in ProClarity for Reporting Services, including automated business chart creation and an "Export to RDL" add-in for ProClarity Professional.

* Extensive support for Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Beta 2. Bill Baker, GM of SQL Server Business Intelligence at Microsoft, says: "SQL Server`s business intelligence goal is to provide organisations with tools to help them operate more successfully.

"ProClarity Analytics Platform 6 helps users more rapidly understand large amounts of data and make more tactical, fact-based business decisions. With its support for Microsoft technologies, ProClarity provides SQL Server customers with one of the most effective business intelligence solutions available."

The new features in ProClarity 6 provide companies with a comprehensive view of historical performance data, as well as insight into how their business is currently operating. These capabilities enable more effective planning and faster, fact-based decision making for future business success.

Keith Jones, MD of Harvey Jones Systems, the South African distributor of ProClarity, says: "The advancements that have been made with ProClarity 6 are directly in line with the needs of today`s analytic application customers: rapid solution delivery, faster understanding of complex information and low cost of ownership are their primary concerns.

"ProClarity 6 allows companies to effectively plan their course for the future by comparatively analysing real-time information in relation to historical performance data, all at a reasonable price point.

"This is by far the biggest release in the history of the company, and we anticipate that it`s going to have a considerable impact on the business intelligence industry. The solution will now extend to provide a full 360-degree view of the business and allow customers to fully leverage their investment in Microsoft technology."

During the second week of November, Harvey Jones Systems will conduct a roadshow, in conjunction with Jan van Dijk, product manager for ProClarity from the headquarters in Holland, in Durban, Port Elizabeth, Cape Town and Johannesburg, to demonstrate the new product.
