Johannesburg, 11 Sep 2007

ProCurve Networking by HP experienced year-over-year port growth for the second calendar quarter of 2007, more than double the industry growth rate, according to a recent report by market research firm Dell'Oro Group.(1)

According to the analyst firm's data, ProCurve Networking by HP, the world's second largest enterprise LAN networking vendor, grew worldwide port shipments by 46% in the second calendar quarter of 2007, compared to the same period in 2006. The year-over-year industry growth rate for this period was 21%.

In comparing ProCurve's port growth in North America, in total, switched Layer 2 through Layer 7, shipments grew at 57% year-over-year in a market that grew by 14%. In the same comparison, ProCurve's year-over-year growth in the European, Middle East and Africa market grew at 44% in a market that grew by 28%.

In addition, Dell'Oro Group reports that ProCurve's Power over Ethernet (PoE) worldwide shipments grew 249% year-over-year compared to market growth of 60%.

This data elevates ProCurve to the number two industry position in PoE, with 10% market share. The Dell'Oro Group report also positions ProCurve as the number two vendor in Layer 2 and Layer 3 total Gigabit and 10 Gigabit ports.

"ProCurve's continual market growth and leadership is a direct correlation to the expansion of our enterprise-class products and solutions, and customers embracing our Adaptive Networks vision," said Lorna Hardie, Business Unit Manager for ProCurve Networking by HP, South Africa.
