Hewlett-Packard`s ProCurve range of network products provide the ideal answer to the small to medium enterprise`s networking requirements, and are available from Tarsus Technologies, the distribution arm of MB Technologies. Because this is a price sensitive market, ProCurve products are priced at well below the competition, yet sacrifice nothing in terms of network performance.
"ProCurve means price leadership in the 10/100 to the desktop market. With these products, switching performance is delivered at the price of hubs. Layer 3 routing for Gigabit aggregation at the network core is put within the reach of the SMME market," declares Adrian Delport, general manager for Hewlett-Packard at Tarsus Technologies.
Delport reveals that the ProCurve range has been enhanced with the recent addition of an affordable Gigabit over copper switch module that allows gigabit connectivity at least half the price of fibre-optic connections. "The ProCurve 100/1000 BaseT switch module extends the capabilities of the ProCurve Switch 8000M, 4000M, 1600M and 2424M while complementing the extensive range of ProCurve gigabit Ethernet products," he says.
The new module supports gigabit Ethernet over category five twisted-pair connections as defined by the recently ratified IEEE 802.3ab Gigabit Ethernet standard.
