At its recent annual independent software vendor (ISV) conference in Johannesburg, Progress Software SA recognised its top ISVs with prestigious awards for achievements in 2001.
The Progress channel, in contrast to the pervading IT business climate, has focused on technical advancement and the development of collaborative working relationships that have contributed to its steady growth and the creation of new business opportunities.
MIP Holdings won the local partner of the year 2001 award, which is given to an ISV that qualifies and exceeds expectations in all of Progress` categories. In addition, MIP received an international award from Progress Corporation in recognition of its courage and insight in releasing its ASTRA development framework for the greater good of Progress and the ISVs.
"This recognition, combined with our relationship with Progress, gives MIP the competitive edge that ultimately makes us one of the best technical shops worldwide," says Richard Firth, CEO and chairman of MIP Holdings. "The biggest advantage of working with Progress is the fact that it has a locally-based company with a flexible billing process, ensuring that international exchange rates do not affect our business or any of its other local partners."
QBCON, winner of the 2000 partner of the year award, was the runner-up for 2001.
"Our relationship with Progress is a great motivator for our staff. The fact that Progress recognises and appreciates our efforts gives us the edge to try harder to always be at the top and be the best," says Gustav Piater, IT director at QBCON.
Other Progress ISV conference award winners were:
* Systemcare South Africa - strategic vision award;
* AFA Systems - technical innovation award;
* Sys-Net (Cape) cc - industry sector excellence award;
* IQ Health - most significant revenue growth award; and
* Auto-Mate - top revenue performer of the year award.
"The ISVs are critical to our business because they act as our route to market and add value to the technology that we produce," says Rick Parry, MD of Progress Software SA. "Our objective is always to engender enthusiasm and pride in our ISVs so they can be motivated to excel."
