Application infrastructure software company Progress Software has been recognised as one of the 200 Best Small Companies by Forbes magazine.
According to the 31 October issue of Forbes, only companies that are "solid and consistent hitters that have performed well when measured over the last 12 months and the past five years, and are poised for another growth spurt" were considered.
Other prestigious public companies making the list include Kronos, Avid Technology, Internet Security Systems and ANSYS. The entire Forbes 200 Best Small Companies list can be viewed online at http://www.forbes.com/200best/.
The annual Forbes 200 Best Small Companies list is a compilation of financially successful small-cap businesses. In order to be considered for the Forbes 200, companies must have revenue between $5 million and $750 million, net profit margins greater than 5% and share prices above $5 as of 29 September 2005.
"Being named to the Forbes 200 Best Small Companies list is a testament to the impressive growth Progress has experienced in the past few years, both organically and through strategic acquisitions," says Rick Parry, MD of Progress Software South Africa. "Progress plans to continue to build on this growth by bringing our innovative technology applications and development platforms to leading companies worldwide."
Progress also ranked 67th in market value, 71st in profits and 82nd in 12-month earnings per share.
