Progress Software has announced the general availability of its Progress SonicMQ Internet messaging server, and its certification for Linux.
"In its short time on the market in the US, SonicMQ has won tremendous acceptance," says Rick Parry, MD of Progress Software SA. "SonicMQ will be equally rapidly adopted elsewhere, where application developers recognise the need for large-scale, robust messaging to link business-to-business applications between enterprises over the Internet."
"Progress SonicMQ is an exciting product for developers faced with the challenges of linking disparate business systems over the Internet," says Gary Barnett, senior consultant at Ovum. "SonicMQ provides a standards-based, easily implementable messaging server they can use as a platform for integration - the key to effective e-commerce."
SonicMQ is the first and still the only standalone messaging server available from a major software vendor based on Sun`s specification for Internet messaging, Java Message Service (JMS). By providing a standards-based, reliable and scalable messaging infrastructure for Internet application interoperation, together with key standards beyond the JMS specification such as eXtensible Markup Language (XML), SonicMQ can ensure business-to-business transactions are successfully completed.
SonicMQ has won multiple awards since it began shipping in the US last December, including Best Java Middleware from attendees at the SIGS Conference for Java Development and a World Class Award from the magazine Java Developer`s Journal.
