Project Management Institute South Africa to hold third conference

The Project Management Institute South Africa (PMISA) has announced that Its Project Management Conference will be held from 22 to 24 April 2002 at the Indaba Hotel, Fourways, Johannesburg.

Widely respected as the project managers get together of the year, the forthcoming "African Rhythm Project Management Conference" will attract a variety of national and international project management practitioners, executives and academics. As in past years, a variety of papers will be presented by local and international delegates from Africa, US, Europe and Australia.

The African Rhythm Project Management Conference will provide an opportunity for key players to review sustainable practices that have been developed by South Africans in order to meet the challenges delivered by transformation and globalisation. Topics to be addressed by the conference include development projects in Africa, best practice processes and methodologies for project management, project management training and education, professional development, technology for project management, managing engineering, construction or information technology projects and maintaining customer focus in project management.

The objectives of the conference have been defined as follows:

  • .         The sharing of local and international experiences and lessons;

  • .         To promote networking and business opportunity development;

  • .         To encourage the study of project management;

  • .         To support the development of a professional project management community;

  • .         To assist self development;

  • .         To provide a forum for education, knowledge transfer and the development of new skills and professional development;

  • .         To promote best practice in project management and its application in Africa;

  • .         To facilitate the meeting of diverse cultures in sharing and learning from each other in the quest for successful projects.

  • African Rhythm is the third project management conference that PMISA has hosted since 1997. PMISA, a non-profit professional institute, is actively involved in advancing the project management profession, with representation throughout the country. Members of PMISA are provided with a code of conduct that ensures compliance with professional and ethical standards, which are recognised and respected within the industry. PMISA currently has over 1 000 members from across all spheres of industry.

Advance notification and a call for papers for the African Rhythm conference has been issued by PMISA and early bird registration rates are currently available.
