Projectors gone digital

Johannesburg, 14 Aug 2000

Philips has brought projectors into the age with the release of its ProScreen PXG 10, promising the brightest Philips display ever while running in ultra soft-mode.

Featuring true XGA resolution coupled with a 2200 ANSI lumen lamp this projector is designed with training institutions, home entertainment and the corporate environment in mind. "The remote control ensures ease of use with features such as zoom, keystone correction and freeze," says Owen Patmore, sales manager for Philips Creative Display Solutions SA. This newcomer to the market sports a USB port that allows the connection of a variety of peripherals, such as digital speakers. Still one of the most noted features on the ProScreen PXG 10 remains its image clarity. "It can display a 1024-by-768-pixel picture with ensured clarity even in daylight conditions," says Patmore.

Philips Air System (PAS) technology not only enables heat diffusion it also allows the projector to run virtually silent. Even after prolonged use this projector is guaranteed to run at less than 35 Dcbs. "The last thing a presenter needs is a cooling fan distracting his audience," says Patmore. The projector accepts a wide variety of image sources, and the Philips LIMESCO chip automatically detects the source - VGA to SXGA, /video, PC or Mac, PAL, SECAM and NTSC - and converts the images without loss of information. Compatibility with all video and PC/Mac data sources up to UXGA is guaranteed.

With the auto voltage feature users can plug in anywhere in the world without a voltage adapter, and an integrated carrying handle further enhances its travel-friendly status.

Owen concludes by saying that in the dynamic projector market each new product should offer solid improvements on previous machines. "The PXG 10 fits the bill with improvements on presenting essentials such as image quality and ease of use."
