Prometric, a technology-enabled testing and assessment provider to more than 400 organisations worldwide, has outsourced its academic testing centre in South Africa to Bytes People Solutions. Bytes People Solutions has been operating as a professional testing centre for Prometric for more than 15 years.
"Adding the academic centre to our portfolio enables us to assist people by delivering examinations for various academic qualifications," says Dr Madelise Grobler, MD, Bytes People Solutions. "This all happens at the Bytes People Solutions assessment centre, in Midrand."
Prometric administers professional and corporate examinations for a number of vendors, including Microsoft. Bytes People Solutions, a Microsoft Gold Learning Partner, has years of experience in administrating examinations for Microsoft certifications, as well as other large international organisations, making it an ideal outsource partner for Prometric.
"Prometric chose Bytes People Solutions to deliver its services in South Africa because we have a testing centre that is conveniently located, controlled and highly secure," says Theo Bohnen, operations executive, Bytes People Solutions. "The organisation was seeking to outsource part of its testing services, and Bytes People Solutions is able to offer the right test room facilities, which need to be professional in appearance, free of distractions and comfortable. Test rooms also need to be secure, monitored, easily accessible to the public, and provide access to people with disabilities. Our testing centre is one of the few in the country that meets all of these criteria."
Other factors, such as testing room equipment, the partitioning of the testing rooms, the space between workstations, and actual desktop space, were also important considerations.
As an authorised Prometric testing centre, Bytes People Solutions will offer testing for the academic, corporate, government, financial, healthcare, and IT industries, as well as for professional organisations.
"As one example, candidates will be able to write the test of English as a foreign language (TOEFL) at the testing centre, among many other academic, professional and corporate tests," says Bohnen.

The employees who administer the testing centre are highly trained and are certified to deliver examinations.
