Prominent South African businessman Rasethaba joins Lexmark board

Lexmark International has announced the appointment of Sello Mashao Rasethaba to its local board of directors, with immediate effect.

The appointment of Rasethaba further entrenches the printer manufacturer`s commitment and investment into SA and further reinforces its commitment to on-shore activities. Part of his mission for the company is to leverage existing black empowerment initiatives and relationships as well as further facilitate growth in this area.

Hans Horn, managing director of Lexmark SA, says: "We are delighted to have someone of Sello`s calibre and experience within the IT sector on board. We feel he is the right person to serve the interests of both our partners and the local Lexmark team. Sello`s understanding of the inner workings of business, not only in the ICT sector, are a true credit to the individual and will be an asset to our organisation."

Rasethaba is currently the executive director of JSE-listed BEE resource finance house Matodzi Resources as well as chairman of advertising giant Saatchi & Saatchi. Some more notable past achievements include a term as chairman of the State IT Agency (SITA) as well as the position as chairman of the Transnet tender board.

Having received qualifications in the UK and the US in the discipline of accounting, specialising on the impacts thereof on the ICT environment, Rasethaba has a deep passion for the ICT sector and personally believes it a sector of which he has an excellent understanding and where he can add the most value. Rasethaba is also currently an insolvency practitioner, lobbyist, business facilitator and management consultant.

Rasethaba says: "It is refreshing to be able to work with a company whose core values and mission are as clearly defined as my own. I look forward to being able to bring a local flavour to the Lexmark strategy in SA as well as opening new doors and identifying new opportunities within the sector that is my passion, that being IT."

Until recently, Rasethaba was chief executive of Matodzi Management Advisory Services and regional director with Ernst & Young Management Consulting Services in Johannesburg. He was also the national sales and marketing executive responsible for new business development, particularly in the provincial governments.

In addition to being a workaholic, his interests include transformation of both government and business organisations which would ultimately result in the transformation of relationships and partnerships. His experience extends to the formulation, development and implementation of IT strategies which he has acquired in SA, the US and the UK.
