ProScan deploys NetMotion's remote access network technology

Johannesburg, 18 May 2010

ProScan Enterprise Mobility, leader in total mobile solutions, continues to mobilise business applications with the introduction to the South African market of NetMotion Wireless's award-winning, best-in-class mobile VPN (virtual private network) technology.

With the launch of NetMotion's Wireless Mobility XE, ProScan is able to provide its customers with the latest in mobile VPN technology offering enhanced productivity, security, performance and management over its mobile deployments. Mobility XE is a software-only mobile VPN that provides secure, continuous remote access to network resources and applications from mobile devices over any wired or wireless IP-based network.

Industry-leading Mobility XE enables organisations to maximise the productivity and management of their worldwide mobile workforces, deliver flexible remote access, and safeguard the security of their data and networks.

Unlike traditional VPNs that do not perform well in mobile and wireless environments, Mobility XE was built from the ground up to address the unique challenges associated with mobility - such as wireless security, coverage gaps, application sessions persistence and performance.

NetMotion Mobile VPN enables mobile workers to reduce some of the most common challenges in mobile deployment, including software application crashes as users move in and out of wireless coverage areas; roaming between WiFi and wide area cellular networks and secure connectivity.

The technology allows for inter-network roaming capability, allowing mobile workers to change networks seamlessly and securely without having to think about their network connections or without having to re-authenticate.

As enterprises increasingly extend mobile data access to their workers, often using public wireless networks, NetMotion provides the seamless connections and security required, as well as the management tools that afford the necessary visibility and control.

Managing Director of the ProScan Group, Andrew Fosbrook, said: “This innovative technology will allow mobile workers to do in the field what they normally would do in offices and warehouses, affording them more time to service their customers.

“ProScan is delighted with our association with NetMotion and the introduction of their Mobile VPN to the South African marketplace. We believe that NetMotion's Mobile VPN will elevate many of the issues enterprises are experiencing with their mobile deployments and ensure maximisation of their return on investment.”
