ProScan exhibits latest barcoding, wireless, mobile technologies at Cape Futurex

ProScan Systems will highlight the latest in barcoding, wireless and mobile technologies at the Cape Futurex exhibition on 29 September to 1 October 2004 at Hall 1 Stand F26, demonstrating how industry in SA is using mobile devices incorporating GSM/GPRS technology to extend their enterprise systems to workers in the field.

The latest Intermec 700 mobile computer series will be on display, which is used by leading South African courier and FMCG companies to totally automate logistics` processes.

The Intermec 700 mobile device was the first of its kind to be introduced that integrates three wireless communication options in a single device to bring serious enterprise mobility to the workplace. The three wireless radios include a wireless local area network (WLAN) radio for in-premise applications; a GSM/GPRS wide area network radio for remote applications; and a fully integrated power-managed Bluetooth radio for short-range communication to peripheral devices.

The device, which features a large colour display, can also capture signatures for proof of delivery, and can withstand repeated drops from over 1.5m, ensuring it handles the challenges of real-time daily work.

ProScan is one of the first companies in SA to roll-out its radio frequency identification (RFID) strategy in SA and will demonstrate the range of Intermec RFID Intellitag products, which support frequency ranges from 862 to 928MHz and meet all existing and emerging RFID item management standards established to date.

ProScan will also showcase its professional services, including site surveys, workshop repair, preventative maintenance, staff training to a label printing bureau, which ensures this mission-critical equipment runs as efficiently as possible all the time.
