ProScan Systems announced the expansion of its operation to include the manufacture of barcode labels.
As a leader in barcoding, data collection, RFID, wireless networking and mobile technologies in SA, ProScan is the sole distributor for Intermec products, and a preferred distributor for Datamax printers and ribbons.
To accommodate production facilities, ProScan moved to larger premises in Jet Park in May, close to the Johannesburg International Airport.
The new 1 150 square metre premise houses ProScan`s sales, distribution and maintenance divisions, as well as the new production facility, which went `live` at the end of June with a range of self-adhesive labels for the complete range of barcode printers that the company supports.
In addition, ProScan will manufacture original labels under licence to Intermec Technologies. As part of the local Intermec manufacturing programme, ProScan will introduce the Intermec Printhead Replacement Programme, which entitles the user to a free printhead replacement for all Intermec printers, when Intermec supplies are used exclusively.
Andrew Fosbrook, Managing Director of ProScan, comments: "We took the decision to produce thermal and thermal transfer labels due to the demand from our customers for original products at local competitive prices. Previously, original imported labels have been too pricey. With local production, we can now provide our customers with a total solution, including the supply of barcode printers, technical services and consumables.
"Labels manufactured to original equipment manufacturer`s standards have numerous benefits, which include hassle-free printing due to total compatibility with the printer, minimum downtime as the printhead life is maximised, and total print consistency."
