In July 2000, VIAG EuroPlattform AG employed Protek`s Flagship Convergent Billing and Customer Care solution in Liechtenstein, supporting GSM, GPRS and UMTS platforms. This project represents a European showcase for Protek`s systems, which combines state of the art products along with a unique implementation approach aimed at today`s competitive operators.
"Our requirements were very complex and we needed a billing system that could be seamlessly integrated with our present operations in Germany, Austria and Switzerland," indicated Alois Widmann, General Manager of VIAG EuroPlattform AG. "We chose Protek because they were able to tailor a scalable top end product for the special needs of a market such as Liechtenstein."
The installation has emphasized Protek`s 3G compliant system, a technology which Protek has committed to develop ahead of present market offerings. "Our platform is one of the first to be implemented on this next generation network," commented Tom Martinson, VP Research & Development for Protek. "The delays inherent to working behind a circuit switch have been eliminated and our customers will be able to receive real time billing for post and pre-paid services."
To mark the successful completion of the project, known as the Montel-Land, Protek will be attending an event in Liechtenstein on September 15th. The occasion is intended to take people on a journey through `Montel Land`. A number of Liechtenstein`s officials will be present on September 15th, Including His Highness, Hans-Adams II, the Prince of Liechtenstein.
VIAG, who hold one of the first European UMTS licenses, will highlight this technology in Liechtenstein. UMTS is a major new third generation mobile communication system that paves the way for personalized and user-friendly mobile access to information such as pictures, graphics, video communications, voice and data. UMTS services will bring together many sectors to provide unprecedented levels of service and new products.
This latest deal for Protek is in line with the company`s plan for accelerated European expansion and follows on the heels of other recent European contracts.
