Psystar to license cloning technology
Mac clone manufacturer, Psystar, which has been embroiled in a long-running legal wrangle over its Mac clone business, plans to license its 'virtualisation technology' to other PC manufacturers, states ITWire.
The result would be Psystar-certified OS X "compatible" computers.
Psysar has been selling PCs configured to run Mac OS X since April 2008 and it has been defending itself against Apple lawsuits since July the same year.
CBS Interactive sued
Internet filter maker Solid Oak Software has filed a $1.2 million copyright infringement lawsuit against CBS Interactive's ZDNet China for distributing China's Green Dam filtering software, reports InformationWeek.
The lawsuit alleges that CBS Interactive's ZDNet China made the controversial Green Dam filtering software available for download on its Web site and that Green Dam included code copied from Solid Oak's Cybersitter program.
The Chinese government earlier this year said that all PCs sold in China would have to come with Green Dam installed by 1 July.
CFO accountable for $81m project
The University of Wisconsin System's CFO says his job will be on the line if an $81.4 million IT project fails, according to Forbes.
The UW System's senior vice-president for administration and fiscal affairs, Tom Anderes, told lawmakers he was responsible for the project to install a new payroll and benefits system and assumes he will be fired if it doesn't work.
His comments came in response to a question by Republican, Phil Montgomery of R-Green Bay, who expressed frustration that state officials in charge of previous projects that failed, costing a total of $170 million, were never held accountable.
